With so much to try and catch up on, a couple of the Gympie Family History Society members are going to attend the society rooms from 6pm to 9pm, on Monday and Tuesday night the 25th and 26th November, 2024.
While our main focus will be the RE-INDEXING PROJECT, scanning and re-editing and producing digital lists and indexes from much of the work that has been done over the society’s many years, there is the opportunity for people to come in and do some of their own work if you would like to take advantage of night opening hours.
If there is a reasonable interest the same will occur in January and February.
There are a number of computers and scanners available at the society to work on, but if you would prefer to bring your own laptop and scanner, it will need to have programs with a “Word or Excel, and an OCR and PDF scanning and producing capacity”.
Hope to see you at the society rooms at 1 Chapple Street Gympie, under the Rattler Railway and across from Soma Soma.
Contact us by phone on 07 5482 8211, or email at “gympiefamilyhistory@gmail.com”.

==================================
Join our society and help with any number of historical projects.
Our mandate – To record and preserve this regions family history and regional social history through acquisitions and preservation of records, and research of the thousands of stories.
Our vision – Imagine a future GFHS where you can come to our rooms, sit down at a computer and search thousands of records in seconds. Now imagine you can do it from home.
That is our vision of the future. But first, we need to turn our paper records into digital records.
The first targets – There are so many choices but we are starting with three unique collections held by GFHS.
