Digitising records

Imagine a future GFHS where you can come to our rooms, sit down at a computer and search thousands of records in seconds.  Then you can view the results online.

Now imagine you can do it from home.  That is our vision of the future.

But first, we need to turn our paper records into digital records.

The key benefits for digitising our records are:

• Easy searching

Search through thousands of records in seconds and then peruse the search results while your cuppa goes cold.  The digital numbering system will be the same as the paper library so it will be easy to find and read the paper records too.

• Many users at one time

No more waiting for people to return a book!  More than one person can access the digital record at the same time.

• Accessible to all

Digital records are accessible to people with vision impairment and/or other languages.  And eventually, the library will be open online 24/7.

• Archival and safe-keeping

The library will always be ordered and no digital record will ever be placed on the wrong shelf.
